Polly Scattergood - Esque

This drawing is based on a really awesome picture by Justin de Deney that I saw in Paper Magazine of singer Polly Scattergood. I didn't leave enough room for the shoes, but in the picture she had on these kind of high heeled Mary Janes. I was absolutely taken.

Joan Of Arc, Part 2

The last Joan of Arc, I didn't give much thought to, I was just really moved by the silent film version of her trial and stake-burning and felt compelled. This one is sort of a representation of her youth and courage.

A Fantastic And Trippy Journey...

I have to give Anchorbird a mention. I can't remember where I found this link, but it's a collaborative comic featuring several different artists and it seems that each one takes the comic in strange new directions with every new posting.

It is like watching the ultimate Choose Your Own Adventure book being played out in comic book form...well, except for the fact that you don't get to do any choosing. But you just never know what the next artist is going to come up with.

There seems to be a main cast of characters and the title Anchorbird is in reference to one of the character's mysterious Marines "tattoo."

I'm hoping this runs for a while and remains as wonderfully trip-tastic as it is.

In Progress, I Suppose...

Here we have this little guy that almost ended up in the trash after I got frustrated with his hair and then not being able to decide what I wanted him to be.

This is the cropped version of what I've drawn so far, in which it appears he's going to be another of my chained up sex workers. I started with the idea of it being Joseph thrown in prison by Potiphar, but I didn't allow much room on the paper for that set up. And I really don't know enough about that story to tell it with only a couple of details. (Although Mrs Potiphar's attempted seduction of Joseph would make an interesting drawing...*PING!*)

So he became your run-of-the-mill captive, tossed into some filthy brothel by yet another group of brutish, horny, money-hungry thugs looking for an innocent to ruin. Not sure what other details will be added yet...
