Here we have a drawing of someone who resembles Simon Nessman's 3rd cousin twice removed, from a distance, if you are squinting. I never get tired of that line.

When I first saw photos of Simon, of course I was immediately reminded of an angel and seeing as how I like the religious stuff, he became my favorite model. I used to do a blog called The Nessman Chronicles, but he got popular REALLY QUICKLY in the fashion world and it was impossible to keep up with him.

She's got a look that is very specific to her so you can play around with interpretations and have it still be recognizable as Janelle Monae. This drawing, however, is just a straightforward sort of portrait. I can see myself returning to the Janelle-well in the future for something more abstract.

I'm not really a fan of LGG, but I am a big fan of this song and video. So while this isn't supposed to actually look like LGG, it is supposed to look like my favorite scene in this clip where the camera does the 360 around her standing in the middle of crystals which appear to be suspended in mid air (starts around the 3 minute mark). I didn't reference the video while drawing, instead just worked from memory. Not an exact copy but sort of an "impression of."

I started working on this after watching THIS VIDEO of Gio Black Peter performing, and thought it was such an iconic look for him.

Funny note: On one of his older posts on his website about shooting the pilot of Criminal Minds, he said they cut his hair and it looked like Crispin Glover from Back To The Future. I laughed.
